Hamza Ighamani’s second-half brace helped Rangers come back to earn a 2-2 draw with Motherwell, although Philippe Clement’s side now trail leaders Celtic 14 points ahead of their old encounter.
The home side were on course for their first league win over Rangers at Fir Park since Boxing Day 2002 after first-half goals from Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and an eye-catching effort from Tawanda Maswanhase.
However, the visitors responded in the second half after Clement made changes in the first half, with substitute Igamane scoring twice to put the game to bed.
But Motherwell substitute Tony Watt saw two goals disallowed, while manager Stuart Kettlewell was also sent off after picking up two bookings in quick succession as a less than breathtaking encounter came to an end.
With Celtic beating St Johnstone, Rangers now face the tough prospect of hosting the runaway leaders on January 2 in a match you can watch live Sky Sports.
