Man Utd Women 7 – 0 West Bromwich Albion WFC happymamay

Substitute Rachel Williams guided Manchester United into the fifth round of the Women’s FA Cup after her hat-trick helped cement a 7-0 win over West Brom in the third step.

Melvin Mallard opened the scoring for the fourth-placed Women’s Super League side in the 23rd minute at the Lee Sports Village Stadium, where it remained the only goal of the game until the doors opened after the break.

Williams replaced Mallard just before the hour mark, then scored twice from Anna Sandberg in the 77th and 79th minutes.

England international Ella Toon returned to action for the first time since being sidelined with a calf injury in November, adding her name to the scoresheet when she slotted United’s fourth goal from the crossbar.

Celine Bizet added another goal in the 89th minute, before Williams completed her hat-trick in the first minute of stoppage time in the second half.

But Pizet – who may have wanted credit for what might have been a finishing touch for United’s second goal of the game – didn’t do that either, scoring twice in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

This was the only Women’s FA Cup match to be postponed after weather conditions forced the postponement Durham Trip to Brightonwhile five Sunday matches in the competition were also cancelled.
