James Justin scored his second brace of the season to help Leicester City qualify for the FA Cup fourth round with a 6-2 thumping of Queens Park Rangers.
Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side produced a professional display after half-time to give the Dutchman his second win as manager, which could also inject some momentum into the Foxes’ bid to remain in the Premier League.
Justin put Leicester ahead in foggy conditions at the King Power Stadium before Queens Park Rangers equalized through a firecracker from Jonathan Varane, but the hosts created some breathing room between themselves and the visitors with goals from Stevie Mavididi and Facundo Bonanotti.
On the stroke of half-time, Harry Winks lazily gifted Ryan Colley a goal to reduce the deficit to 3-2, but that did little to dampen Leicester as they showed their top-flight quality in the second 45 minutes.
Justin’s second goal, Jamie Vardy’s 38th birthday penalty and Jamaal Wout-Weiss – a 30-yard volley into the top corner after a stunning run forward – snapped a run of five straight defeats.
