Vidal Riley and Isaac Chamberlain will finally meet in a long-awaited British cruiserweight showdown on February 1, live on Sky Sports.
The local showdown has been brewing for some time as the pair prepare for what could be a defining night in their career paths.
Riley extended his perfect professional record to 12-0 on Saturday night when he defeated heavyweight Dan Garber on the undercard of Natasha Jonas’ unification bout with Ivana Habazin in Liverpool.
Chamberlain, meanwhile, is 16-3 after suffering a unanimous decision defeat to Jack Massey at Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park in June.
“Now the paths have come together, we can talk, we can fight, it feels like a great job,” Riley said after his win on Saturday.
The duo share notable unanimous decision victories over Mikael Lawal, and Riley impressively overcame a rib injury en route to a major win in March earlier this year.
Riley’s development appears to have piqued the interest of YouTube star Jake Paul, as has the Londoner’s social media presence, but the 27-year-old has long insisted he wants to prioritize domestic and eventually world titles. Chamberlain might seem like the latest step toward that.
For Chamberlain, it’s an opportunity to make a statement to the setback he suffered against Massey as he looks to make his way back towards the biggest names in the cruiserweight division.
The massive heavyweight rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will be broadcast on Saturday 21 December on Sky Sports Box Office. Book Usyk v Fury 2 now!
