Three men were convicted of an attempt to blackmail against the Greater Michael Schumacher family in Formula 1.

The perpetrators demanded 15 million euros (12.5 million pounds) from the family to avoid launching hundreds of pictures and video clips for the family, as well as digital copies of the medical records of Rumacher.

A local court in Berltal, West Germany, sentenced the main defendant to three years in prison, while his son received a suspended sentence for a period of six months and a fine of 1,200 euros (1000 pounds) news agency on Wednesday. The main defendant was previous convictions.

The other defendant, a former family security guard, received a two -year suspension sentence and a fine of 2,400 euros to help her and incite the other two men. Judge Bergit Newbert said that the former security worker made the most important contribution to the crime by violating confidence, according to DPA.

The Schumacher family was threatened to issue special materials on Darknet. The Public Prosecutor’s Office said that about 900 pictures and nearly 600 videos of the family and digital medical records from Schumacher were confiscated from the perpetrators. The hard drive remained missing.

Lawyer Thilo Dam, who represents the Schumacher family, said that the family would resume the case against the former security guard, who wanted to prison sentence for four years.

While the other two defendants admitted the charges, the lawyer of the security guard denied the charges and demanded innocence. He said that his client did not steal sensitive data.

The family protected Schumacher from the general outlook since the dangerous skiing accident in December 2013. Since his transfer from the hospital in September 2014, the F1 champion has been taken care of seven times separately in a family home in Switzerland.

Schumacher retired from F1 in 2012 after winning 91 races, and five consecutive titles with Ferrari from 2000-04. The other two titles were for the German driver with Beniteton in 1994-1995.
