
Police said her mother, 37, and her two -year -old daughter, died two days after driving a crowd of people in Munich, Germany.
At least 37 people were injured in the attack, and a number of them seriously.
Police said the driver was a 24 -year -old Afghan student, who was identified in the local media in the name of Farhad N, who was arrested at the scene.
Prosecutors said the suspect appears to be a religious motivation.
“Unfortunately, we have to confirm today’s death for the two -year -old and her 37 -year -old mother,” Police spokeswoman Ludwig and Dender told news agency on AFP on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Munich Prosecutor Gabriel Telman said that the suspect said, “God is great” (God is greater) as he was detained, which suggested that it means “he might have had an Islamic motive.
On Thursday, which was walking in the heart of Munich 10 days before the Germans went to the polls in the federal elections that were overwhelmed by a series of previous attacks by immigrants.
Two of the alleged attackers came from Afghanistan.
The suspect arrived in Germany in 2016, and despite his decline in asylum, he was allowed to stay in Germany. He had a valid residence permit and a work permit.
