Wta: the safety of the player is our top priority

A statement issued by the Women’s Tennis Association read: “On Monday, February 17, Emma Raducanu was contacted in a public area by a man who showed a steady behavior.

“This same person was identified in the first few rows during the Emma match on Tuesday in the Dubai Tennis Championship, and then he was expelled later. It will be prevented from all the events of the respectable tennis players pending the evaluation of the threat.

“The safety of the player is our top priority, and championships are recommended for best security practices for international sporting events.

“WTA actively works with Emma and her team to ensure her well -being and provide any necessary support.

“We are still committed to cooperation with their championships and security teams all over the world to maintain a safe environment for all players.”

The WTA Tennis Federation says it will support Raducanu after the accidents in Dubai

A spokesman for the Tennis Association at the Garden (LTA) said Sky Sports News. “This accident again highlights the issues about the safety that all players can face, but players in particular.

“We have support for British players and we were in contact with Emma and her team by following the events in Dubai. We have extensive security arrangements in our events in Britain and maintain this continuous review.

“The tours have already strong operations and we will continue to work together with police and security providers to deal with situations like these strongly.”

In 2022, a man who walked 23 miles to Radokano’s house in London had a five -year restriction.

Radokano’s colleague Brett Katie Bolter told the Guardian newspaper in December that she had followed in the pastSaying: “It happens to all of us, it is part of life when you are in the eyes of the audience a little. You are clearly not comfortable.”

“On the time in Nottingham, I had someone to send me on social media,” I am abroad. I will hurt you if I come out.

“Things like this happen all the time. Obviously, we are well protected, making you feel safe. WTA is doing a great job in your presence for you. I feel that we are as protected as possible, which puts your mind slightly.”

Smith “terrified” in the Radocano incident

Former British No. 1 Sam Smith on Sky Sports News:

“I felt terrifying. I was paradoxically, I was watching the match mysteriously with the sound down.

“The credit for Emma. You will never know what I went through, with the way she was playing and competing, I don’t know how she did so.

“Emma had the mind to stop, and to speak to power. It looked as if the tournament was very quickly, and the person who was removed very quickly was removed.

“They did everything they could do to make sure that Emma was as protected as possible, and certainly in the physical sense, but psychologically, it was difficult for her to continue the match and play it.

“I did not test it myself, but even a slight incident in the crowd, for example if someone is fine or there is a disturbance, it may be difficult.

“Tennis players are trained to turn on and turn off, but I do not think anyone is psychologically designed to deal with what Emma had to deal with in Dubai, and to overcome this in future matches.

“WTA and ATP tours will double looking at their protocols, which have worked well, but give priority for the player’s safety and well -being. They will look at whether they can move them to another level and I think they might have to.”

Burn

Sky Sports Tennis’ Jonathan Overland:

“It was worrying to see, especially when Radocano was wandering behind the ruling chair, and I think he sheds light on three things.

“First of all, protection and safety, which is very important, and secondly the flexibility of Raducanu to complete the match. I find it great to be close to the match, it was an incredible effort.

“I also think it highlights the need for sympathy when we talk about athletes who unfortunately have to deal with this type of things in their personal lives.

“With Raducanu, the talk is about,” Why did you not win another major championship? Well, look at scenes like this and misuse of social media.

“We see a lot of tennis on stadium stadiums with security at each entrance. This is not the reality around the championships with several courts, some of which are very small with a seat on both sides of the fence.

“It is possible to approach individuals, not only in matches but with maneuvering around them. It is clear that there is security in its place but always needs to be reassessed and at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

“You can add daily social media hunt. WTA talks about” proven behavior “and this is also affecting these athletes.”

The Dubai championship organizers added: “The championship security team worked in cooperation with the WTA security team to determine the individual and immediately get it out of the field.

“We support WTA’s decision to ban the individual concerned from all WTA events, and to exchange the long round commitment to the luxury of the player, safety and luxury.”
