Six Israeli hostages freed ahead of Palestinian prisoner release happymamay

Hamas launched six other hostages detained in Gaza, compared to 602 Palestinian prisoners, to be released later on Saturday.

The hostages, which were issued, included four kidnappings during October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel – Tal Shuham, Omer Shim Tof, Alya Cohen and order Winker.

The other two men, Affra Mengistu and Hisham Al-Sayed, have been in Gaza for years-Mr. Minnegusto since 2014 and Mr. Side since 2015.

The six are the final hostages who are still alive as part of the first stage of the ceasefire deal that is scheduled to end next Saturday. Israel and Hamas have not yet agreed to the conditions of the second stage.

Later on Saturday, 602 Palestinian prisoners are to be released, and most of them were arrested after the October 7, 2023 attack.

The BBC understands those who have been released will include 50 prisoners who spend lifelong rulings and 60 with a high penalty, according to the media office statement for the Palestinians.

The bodies of four other hostages are expected to be transferred to Israel next week in what is supposed to be the last step in the first stage of the ceasefire.

After his release, Mr. Mengistu’s family said they had endured “10 years and five months of unimaginable suffering.”

Separately, in Nawyager in the center of Gaza, Mr. Shaim Tof, 22, and Mr. Cohen, 27, and Mr. Winker, 23 years old, were released by Hamas.

All three were captured at the Nova Music Festival on October 7, 2023.

Mr. Shaim Tof initially escaped by car when Hamas fighters came down at the festival, but he was arrested when he returned to save his friends.

Mr. Cohen had hid with his girlfriend, Zif Aboud, in a shelter at the festival, but was discovered and expelled. The shelter was bombed, but Mrs. Aboud Najat and escaped.

Mr. Wenkert managed to send text messages to his family when the festivals pioneers are attacked, telling them that he would go to a safe shelter, but they lost his contact with him.

Mr. Sayed was released separately in Gaza City later on Saturday.
