Adrian Newey: Aston Martin must ‘not stifle’ incoming designer’s creativity, says team principal Andy Cowell | F1 News happymamay

Aston Martin president Andy Martin says that the team should “make fun of” and “not strangle” Adrien Newy’s creativity when the legendary designer joins March.

Aston Martin announced in September that they signed a technical partner after leaving Red Bull after nearly two decades of Milton Keynes.

Hope is that the arrival of Newy, along with many other other prominent expatriates including Cowell, can push the team to the championship disagreement when new regulations are offered for the 2026 season.

Neii, who designed the championship -winning cars in Williams and McLaren before his success with Red Paul, left the latter after a clear collapse in his relationship with team manager Christian Horner.

When asked if he would guarantee that Newy has freedom of work as he pleases in Aston Martin, Coyle said Sky Sports News: “Certainly.

“Adrian is very competitive, he is very creative, and as a organization we need to harness it, not strangling it.

“All people working in the creative field, how to offer an amazing environment – personally when you come to work, [and] And you work in the building with other people?

“How do we make sure that the tools are the best drawer – CFD (the dynamics of calculations), wind tunnel, manufacturing facilities? Thus I think this is the thing that inspires creators.”

Coyle, the former Mercedes engine, who supervised an unprecedented period of success for silver arrows, joined Aston Martin, the group’s CEO in October last year, before he decided to take over Mike Crack’s duties as the team’s manager in January.

Coyle is not subject to any illusion about the level of expectation that faces the “Dreams Team” assembled by the Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll to produce a car – to his son Lance Stol and the world champion twice Fernando Alonso.

He said: “We are working hard to make the race car our main focus, to work together in a cooperative way, which is a high -performance team.

“We believe in this way, we will become faster and faster. We want to win races, we want to win the championships, we would like to be our first drivers in the drivers championship, and we would like to win a successive championship.

“This is a dream, to have a green Racing to see the volatile flag first, and do this after the race after the race.

Restructuring the designer to make the team “more efficient”

The team got a big jump forward in 2023, when they started the season as a surprise, the closest competitor to Red Paul, but he failed to build on this momentum.

While they ranked fifth in the ranking of the two builders for a second consecutive season in 2024, the gap has grown to Mercedes, which finished both campaigns in fourth, from 22 to 374 points.
