Israel challenges Syria’s new leaders with demand for demilitarization of south happymamay

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for the abolition of the complete defamation of many southern Syria.

It is a declaration that could make the conflict between Israel and the new leadership in Syria, after President Bashar al -Assad prolonged.

In a speech to Israeli military students on Sunday, Netanyahu said that Israel will not allow the Hayat Forces Tazar Al -Sham (HTS) – the Islamic group that led to the overthrow of Assad – nor the new Syrian army that is formed “Enter the area south of Damascus.”

He added: “We demand the abolition of the complete reform of southern Syria in the provinces of Quneitra, Daraa and Suweida from the new regime forces.” “Likewise, we will not tolerate any threat to the Druze community in southern Syria.”

He also said that the Israeli forces will remain indefinitely within the Syrian territories that he seized since the autumn of Assad last December – which will be a shift in the Israeli strategy.

Until now, Israel has described its transition to an unavailable buffer zone in the Golan Heights as a temporary measure to ensure the safety of Israelis on the other side.

The logical basis seems to be preventing extremist groups from moving to the Golan in the energy vacuum.

But with his recent comments, Netanyahu explained that he believes that the new authorities in Syria – with their background in jihadism – could represent a similar danger.

Israel seized most of the Golan from Syria during the Middle East war in 1967 and was later annexed. This step was not recognized internationally, although the United States did this in 2019.

The new temporary president in Syria, the leader of HTS, Ahmed Al -Sharra, tried to reassure Israel that he did not want to conflict and that he was ready to support the long -term disengagement agreement between the two countries after another war in 1973.

He also emphasized that he would not allow Syria to use as a base for attacks against Israel.

But Shara also called on Israel to withdraw from the buffer zone it has taken, as he tries to confirm sovereignty in all the broken scene in Syria.

It is clear that Netanyahu does not trust these assurances.

Like many of the international community, the Israeli Prime Minister is waiting to find out whether Shara is beneficial in his moderate position and coach at work as well as words.

From the perspective of the new Syrian leadership, the liberation of the country is seen from the influence of all foreign powers that have its position during the long years of the civil war as vital to ensuring a more positive future for the country and spending a final break with Madi.

Some foreign players, such as Iran and Russia, have seen at least the reduction of the high impact they had before.

During the era of President Donald Trump, the United States may separate from Syria-a role that helped support the Kurdish forces in the northeast of the country.

Nevertheless, there was a growing influence from Türkiye – which provided the main support of HTS in its thunderbolt campaign against Assad.

What is the size of the part that chooses to play can be a decisive factor in how Syria develops in the post -Assad era.

But Israel may be a more urgent challenge to the independence of the new Syria leadership.

That the Israeli forces be increasingly violated to the country’s region – in addition to carrying out many strikes on the targets related to the remainder of the lion’s arsenal – is not commensurate with the vision of the sovereign state that Shayan tries to persuade the Syrians both inside and outside the country whose leadership can provide.

Netanyahu’s move to prevent the Syrian forces from working freely within the borders of the country may be a very far from the new matter in Damascus to the stomach, but a picture other than a confrontation trying to preserve it.
