The British Cameron Nuri was sent by teenage learner Tian in the opening round of the open Mexican.
The British No. 2 7-6 (7-5) lost 6-3 to the 19-year-old, who is ranked 83 in the world, in an hour and 52 minutes in Aquolco.
Tien started a strong start, led 4-1 in the opening set before Norrie recovered and served the group at 5-4. However, the British was broken, with Tian’s victory in the tie before controlling the second group.
Nuri had won his only previous meeting against Tian in Hong Kong earlier this year, overcoming him in consecutive groups, 6-3 7-5.

The second seed, Casper Road, reserved its place in the next round, with a victory 6-4 6-4 over Arthur Renderink from France.
The third seed, Tommy Paul, last Gabriel Dialo 6-2 6-2, while American Ben Shelton, the fifth seed of the tournament, clashed to the past Copoli 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4) to go to the second round.
