Millions of people are believed without electricity across Chile after the country’s power outage.
According to the National Service for the Prevention and Response of Disaster Protection (Sinabrid), the region is affected by most of the country, including the capital, Santiago.
The exact size of the interruption, which started earlier on Tuesday, but Sinabrid said that it covers the regions of Arika and Kenakota in the north to Los Lagos in the south.
Reuters news agency also reported that the largest copper mine in the world, EsCondida, without strength, citing a source close to the matter.
In a post on X, the Santiago Metro operator said that his service had been temporarily suspended due to the continuous power outage, as the stations are evacuated and closed.
The Interior Minister of Chile, Carolina Toha, also published X to say that a meeting will be called to discuss continuous measures to restore services.
Sinabrid added that electricity companies throughout the affected area were investigating and trying to restart services.
