Formula 1 chief Stefano Domenicali reveals Thailand visit as talks over possible Bangkok race continue | F1 News happymamay

Stefano Domainali, President of Formula 1, has revealed that he will visit Bangkok next week for talks about adding a race in the capital of Thailand to the sport calendar.

The majority of the 24 -year -old F1 table is being imprisoned, but it has been announced during the winter that the Dutch Grand Prix will be removed from the calendar after 2026 and that the Belgian Grand Prix will appear on the basis of rotation, starting from the first absence in 2028.

Although the current F1 agreement with its teams allows for a maximum of 25 races, and therefore the possibility of adding an event without a single loss, it is possible that there is a reaction from the drivers if the hard schedule is already increasing.

Speak exclusively to Sky SPORTS F1’s It seems that Martin Brundel before the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, F1 and CEO of Dominicali indicates that Thailand is a major competition, from other places, to join the calendar.

“The good thing that we were able to do in the past two years has been the focus on the places that we believe represented the future for Formula 1,” said Domainali.

“With regard to the promoters and paths that we are already in, we have a long -term agreement with many of them that enables them to invest and improve the facility, to improve the quality of entertainment that we need to provide to our fans.

“We have a lot of attention from other places in the world. After finishing the race here in Melbourne, I go to Bangkok to see … there is a possible interest to develop something there.”

Former Thai Prime Minister Seritta Thavsin, who was replaced in August 2024, attended the Grand Emilia Romania race last year in Emola and explained hosting a race that was partially driven by the desire to put the country on the “global radar”.

Dominicalli’s assertion of his intention to visit Bangkok before the Chinese Grand Prize race next week indicates that the change in government leadership has not changed the intention of Thailand to the calendar.

“Interest from Africa and South America”

Domenicali explained that there is interest from all over the world to join the calendar, and that he believes that the process of providing bids is competitive as important to maintain the “leverage” on the current paths to maintain high standards.

He added: “We have other places in Europe, and there are interests in Africa, and interests in South America now.

“But the most important thing is that we maintain this type of position as a privilege (to host a race), to give us the financial leverage for a significant improvement everywhere we go.”

Dominicley says Madrid’s plans to replace Barcelona as the Spanish Grand Prix host in 2026 is on the right track, while also explaining the reason for the drop of ZandvoRt from the calendar.

He said: “Madrid is working hard to make sure that the race will have been there for two years. It is not an easy project when you start from scratch. They are really excited. They are here in Australia to show us progress, and there is great interest in this country.

Another example in Europe is doing incredible work is Hungary. When you reach Hungary, you will be incredibly surprised by the level of investment they are doing. I think all the cranes in Hungary are present to make sure we have good facilities for the masses.

Also, as always in life, when you have to take some options, there are situations that need to be taken into account. I think Zandvourt, for example, admitted the fact that they did incredible work, they were immediately at the beginning of the new stage of formula 1, but now they understood that for improvement, for the best in the calendar, it is difficult for them to remain in it, but we are chasing them, but we are We adhere to it. 2026 will be great.

“Therefore, a lot of feelings and a lot of attention from other places that I can’t really say today, but I will tell our fans, watch out.”

An upcoming decision “Very soon” at the F1 Future launch event

Dominicley also said that a “very soon” decision will be taken whether the F1 will repeat the launch of the All-Team team, which first appeared in London last month.

This event was initially seen by skepticism by some sports drivers, but through all the standards he achieved great success, as both fans watching all over the world.

Dominicali said: “I think this has achieved great success. The platform’s offer, also to persuade those most skeptical, F1 should think greatly.

“If this happens every year, this is something we need to discuss. Certainly, there is a lot of attention from different promoters from different places in the world, and let’s say, we consider it a big role in the twenty -fifth Grand Prix race to launch this season.

“We will make the decision very soon.”
