US should not bully us, say opposition parties happymamay

The opposition parties in South Africa called for their president not to “intimidate” the United States after Washington expelled Ambassador Ibrahim Rasol, which gave him only 72 hours to leave the country.

Rasoul has been announced an unbearable person yet US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described him as “a politician with a stab wound that hates America” Friday.

Tensions between South Africa and the United States have been in a downward cycle since then US President Donald Trump has been his post.

However, the Minister of International Relations in South Africa, Ronald Lamola, told state broadcaster SABC “not helpful to engage in Twitter diplomacy”, saying that the two countries need to speak “face to face.”

Other politicians were lower in their response.

The EFFa Malima Freedom Party (EFF) has issued a tremendous statement against the United States, and South African President Cyril Ramavusa called “not to allow the country to intimidate the orange clown that occupies the White House.”

The Secretary of the African Conference (PAC) also condemned the American Secretary -General APA POOE, describing it as an attack on South Africa and an attempt to dictate politics in the country.

“SA is not a doll to the United States, we have the right to judge our country without any interference,” he said.

Trump was a vocal critic of the controversial land law in South Africa, which allows the government to confiscate lands without compensation in certain circumstances.

Last month, Trump cut aid to South Africa. He claimed that there is a discrimination against the white -leukin minority, and the Dutch and French settlers.

South Africa denies this.

Rasol previously occupied an American ambassador from 2010 to 2015, when Barack Obama was president.

He was appointed as an ambassador again in 2024, due to his previous experience and wide network of Washington’s contacts.

But despite his record, he faced challenges in holding meetings with Trump.

A South African diplomat told the Semafor news website that someone has the “history of the effective policy of the ambassador”, among other things “, which is unlikely to achieve good performance in this job now.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) – a coalition partner in the National Unity Government in South Africa (GNU) – asked about the reason for the largest party, the African National Congress (ANC), to choose all its foreign diplomats.

“It is not right that the African National Congress Party have obtained Blanche in foreign policy and diplomats’ appointments while they are just a 39 % party,” DA spokesman Willie Ockem told SABC, calling for GNU to go to Washington to reduce tensions.
