The announcement of Israel that the corpse of Gaza on Thursday was not from Sherry Pepas, as Hamas said, he was throwing another bloc in this ceasefire deal.
It was believed that the remains of Sherry, a mother of two children, were delivered along with her children.
But the Israeli army said that the forensic test can only emphasize the bodies of Ariel and Kafir, who were five years old and two, and not from his mother.
Instead, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Hamas “put the body of a woman’s woman in a coffin”, with Ismail Thawab, a spokesman for Hamas, indicating that the remains of Sherry had been mixed with other bodies under the transportation after an Israeli man .
In a separate statement, the group said it confirmed “seriousness and its full commitment to all our obligations” under the ceasefire – and that “he has no interest in not compliance.”
He also said that the investigation of the mix was ongoing, and called for the remains of the alleged Palestinian woman who was deliver by mistake to Israel to return.
The Bibas family was among the 251 people who were received during the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023 on Israel, along with Sherry’s husband, Yarden, who was released earlier this month.
Israel launched a huge military campaign against Hamas in response, which killed at least 4,829 Palestinians – as civilians – according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
Ariel and Kafir, younger than Israeli hostages, were four months old and nine months when they were kidnapped. Their mother was 32.
Netanyahu threatened that Hamas would pay the “full price” for its failure to hand over the body of Sherry, describing it as “a cruel violation and evil” of their agreement.
No measures have been announced after Netanyahu, saying that Israel would spend “with a determination to bring Sherry home.”
But the additional claim from Israel that Ariel and Kafir “were killed by the terrorists in cold blood” will increase the feelings of Israel.
In November 2023, Hamas claimed that the boys and Sherry were killed in an air strike in the Israeli Defense Army. The BBC was unable to check this independently.
On Friday, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hajari claimed that forensic tests revealed that Hamas had killed Ariel and Kafir “with their bare hands.”
He said, “After that, they committed horrific works to cover up these atrocities,” without giving details about the alleged injuries. Hamas has not yet responded to these accusations.
For Israeli politicians inside and outside the Netanyahu government who were demanding the resumption of the war in Gaza, these allegations will be considered more evidence that Hamas should be completely eliminated.
The ceasefire entered into a new period of uncertainty, with the first stage to end – while negotiations on the next stage have not started yet.
The second stage – in which all the remaining hostages are launched, alive or dead, from the start as more challenging than the beginning.
Israel is calling for completely Hamas, while Hamas rejects the possibility of Israel to continue to maintain strict security control over Gaza.
Any major collapse in the deal can see a return to fighting.
On the other hand, the majority of public opinion in Israel may be – that nothing should object to all the remaining hostages who are returned.
By expressing his condemnation of the latest developments, the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, explained that Israel must remember what he called “its supreme duty – to do everything we can to bring each of the kidnapped sisters and the brothers to the house.”
The hostage and families forum repeated this, saying that “every step” must be taken “accurate responsibility” to ensure a safe return of all hostages.
A fourth body was returned to Israel, from Gaza, on Thursday-Oded Lifschitz. Just like Ariel and Kfir Bibas, the Israeli army said that Oded’s remains have been confirmed through the forensic test.
