The Rafa’s border crossing in Gaza, a major entry and exit point for the region, was reopened eight months after allowing the sick and wounded Palestinians to cross to Egypt to receive medical treatment.
Fifty patients, including children with cancer, entered Egypt to reach medical care, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health.
The crossing was closed because the Israeli forces took control of the Gaza team in May last year.
Key Gateway, a vital channel for help, was reopened as part of the ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel.

“One of the feet was severely damaged that it had to be amputated. We tried to avoid amputation, but it had to be implemented because the foot had gangrene in the bone,” he said. “The other is still infected and needs treatment, and amputation needs to be followed and treatment.”
Speaking to the BBC from the crossing, Dr. Rick Biberkorn, representative of the World Health Organization (the World Health Organization) of the West Bank and Gaza, described the evacuation as an “organized” and “slow” operation.
He said: “The ambulances will go one by one, first with non -walking patients, then walk and escorts. They will be examined and then move to the Egyptian side.”
It is estimated that 14,000 people need to reach treatment they cannot obtain in Gaza.
He said that half of these patients “are associated with war and shock injuries, antibiotics, burns, and fork injuries that will need multiple operations and specialized rehabilitation,” adding that the other half suffers from chronic diseases.
“Nearly 5,000 of them expect to be children.”
The head of the European Union’s foreign policy, Kaja Calas, said on Friday that the bloc had deployed a monitoring task at the crossing.
