Russian President Vladimir Putin said it is consistent with the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine, but “questions” remained about the nature of the armistice as it identified a number of difficult circumstances.
The Russian president was responding to A 30 -day ceasefire planIt was approved by Ukraine earlier this week after talks with the United States.
Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski described Putin’s response to the plan as a “manipulation” and called for more sanctions against Russia.
Meanwhile, the United States has placed more sanctions on the Russian oil, gas and banking sectors.
Speaking at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday, Putin said of the ceasefire proposal: “The idea is correct – and we support it – but there are questions that we need to discuss.”
Putin said that the ceasefire should lead to “a permanent peace and remove the radical causes of this crisis.”
“We need to negotiate with our American colleagues and partners,” he said. “Maybe I will receive a call with Donald Trump.”
“It will be good for the Ukrainian side to achieve a 30 -day ceasefire,” Putin added.
“We support that, but there are accurate differences.”
Putin said that one of the fields of competition is the Kursk region in Russia, where Ukraine launched a military penetration last year and seized some lands.
He claimed that Russia has completely returned to Corcke, and said that the Ukrainian forces there “was isolated.”
“They are trying to leave, but we are in control. Their equipment has been abandoned.”
“There are two options for the Ukrainians in Kursk – surrender or die.”
Putin explained some of his questions about how the ceasefire will work: “How will these thirty days be used? For Ukraine to fill? Re -Training people? Or nothing of this? Then a question – how will this be controlled?”
“Who will give this matter to end the fighting? At any cost?
“He does not say” he does not say directly “, he is in practice, he is preparing to refuse.”
“Putin, of course, is afraid to tell President Trump directly that he wants to continue this war, wants to kill the Ukrainians.”
Zelinski said that the Russian leader had set a lot of pre -conditions “so that nothing at all.”
After Putin’s remarks, Zelensky, there is now a clear gap between the sites of both sides.
Ukraine wants a process in two stages: a quick fire stop and then talks about a long -term settlement.
Russia believes that you cannot separate the two processes and all problems should be identified in one deal. Both sides appear to be satisfied with the controversy of their differences.
Ukraine believes it can press Russia and draw it as a hesitant peacemaker, who plays for time. On an equal footing, she believes that she now has an opportunity to raise her basic interests, about NATO expansion and Ukraine’s sovereignty.
But this is a problem for Donald Trump. He made it clear that he wanted a quick result, ending the fighting in days.
Now, Putin does not seem to want to play the ball.

Speaking at the White House after Putin’s remarks, Trump said he would “love” the Russian leader’s interview and that he hoped to “do Russia” do the right thing “and agree to the proposed truce for 30 days.
“We would like to see a ceasefire from Russia,” he said.
Speaking earlier at a meeting in the Oval Office with NATO Secretary -General Mark Retty, Trump told the reporters that he had already discussed details of Ukraine.
“We have discussed with Ukraine the land and land lands that will be kept and lost, and all other elements of a final agreement,” Trump said.
“Many details of the final agreement have been discussed.”
Regarding the issue of Ukraine’s accession to the NATO military alliance, Trump said, “Everyone knows what the answer is.”
The new sanctions on Russian oil and gas came as the Trump administration restricts access to American payment systems, making it difficult for other countries to buy Russian oil.
Meanwhile, Putin met a special envoy Steve Witfouf behind closed doors in Moscow.
Earlier in the day, Kremlin Assistant Yuri Oshakov rejected Stop the proposal made by the United States.
On Wednesday, Putin visited the Russian Kursk region, and wore a symbol of military fatigue. Russia later said it had regained the main city of Soda.
More than 95,000 people Fighting for the Russian army They died in the war.
Another Ukraine updated its victims in December 2024, when President Folodimir Zelinski confessed to 43,000 Ukrainian deaths between soldiers and employees. Western analysts believe this number has been reduced.
