The Frederich Mirz governors won, but the 2025 German elections have given some important and wonderful stories that reveal a country in the flow.
The alternative to Germany, or AFD, doubled its support in just four years to 20.8 %, and spread from the support base in the east to become the second largest political force in Parliament.
Meanwhile, outgoing adviser Olaf SPD has achieved his worst performance in decades, with only 16.4 % of the votes.
Here are five main meals.
AFD dominant in the east, and spread to the West
Look at the map of the election results for Germany, and it could have been going in a timely manner to the Cold War, when an iron curtain divided the Eastern Communist Germany from the West.
In the East is a space of AFD Light Blue, regardless of pockets like Berlin and a half Leipzig. In the West, the vast majority turned into conservative lions, especially in Bavaria, where the conservative MERZ party, CSU, dominates the scene.
But AFD is also spreading in the West, and the political loyalty of the old major parties has gone.
For one of every five Germans, it has become normalized. “They are just ordinary people.”

Although it came second, AFD is banned from being part of the next government because of the “Wall of the Protection” – or Branoor It is managed by the main parties in Germany, which does not cooperate with any party that has been seen as extremist since the end of World War II.
AFD leader Alice insists as a liberation and conservative movement, not racist. The significant increase in public support coincided with a series of deadly attacks in the past nine months, and all migrants claim.
AFD adopted a very controversial policy called “Remigration”, which you define as deporting migrants who committed crimes. But the term can also indicate the mass deportation of migrants and their offspring.
In May 2024, the German court rejected the AFD appeal against the ruling that it ranked as a suspect extremist organization. Judges have found that AFD had “positions that raise the democratic system and do not contradict the principle of democracy.”
In three German states in the East – Thurlingia, Saxony -Anhalt and Saxony – local intelligence appointed AFD as a right -wing extremist.
A pioneering character was convicted in AFD in Thurlingia, Björn Höcke, twice using the banned Nazi logo “Alles Für Deutschland” – everything for Germany. Alice’s supporters chanted her name during the election campaign, using the phrase “Alice for Deutschend”.
The Germans voted in the largest turnout for 40 years
Not since 1987, the participation rate increased to 82.5 % in the German elections, and that was three years before the reunification of East and West.
Four years ago it was 76.6 %.
Simply put, more than four out of five of the German voter has turned 59.2 million.
It only reflects how active Germans in these elections, which come in a pivotal moment of their country. There were nine television discussions in the final extension of the campaign, but this reflects the widespread interest of the public.
All over the collapsed government leaders
The government of the outgoing consultants collapsed from three parties at the end of last year, and within 24 hours of Sunday elections, all three leaders said they are leaving the confrontation policy line.
He was the leader of the economic liberals, FDP, first. Christian Lindner has led his party for 11 years. But she failed to elect any deputies, and Lindner said he would leave politics after 25 years.
Lindner refused to settle the debt rules that reduced the government for the first time, then sent his party to the wilderness.
Although Schools will remain a consultant until the next government is formed, he will not participate in the coalition talks and leave the front lines policy.
Robert Habik, Vice President of the Green Robert Habik, is leaving the front lines policy after his party fell to less than 12 % in the elections.
Tiktok generation withdraws from death
Even a few weeks ago, the left party began to be sentenced to it when one of the leading lights, Sahra Wagenknecht, came out, touched, and more popular, with eight other deputies.
WagenKnecht increased for a while as bsW president, but eventually decreased slightly less than a 5 % threshold to enter Parliament.
The story was completely different from the left (Link dies), Which returned from the dead with an inspiring social humanitarian campaign.
Heidi Reichnik, co -chair of Die Link, went viral after giving a speech to the defense of the AFD protection wall.
She now has 580,000 followers on Tiktok and has attracted seven million views.
Her party got less than 9 % of the votes.

Young people go to the left and right, the old stick to the center
DIE Link’s virus videos helped secure a quarter of 18 to 24, and AFD was not far from 21 %, according to the investigative studies conducted by ARD TV.
Alice Waddal was the biggest strike on social media during the elections, even larger than Heidi Richink. It attracted more than 935,000 followers on Tijok.
For more than 35 years, Christian Democrats were the ones who won, and more than men.
