The German media said that the foreign intelligence service in Germany believes that there is an 80-90 % chance for the leakage of the Coronavone virus from a Chinese laboratory.
Two German newspapers say they discovered details of the evaluation conducted by the BND in 2020, but it was never published.
Intelligence service had indications that the Wuhan Institute for Viruses was doing experiments where viruses were modified to become more transmitted to human beings to search.
China repeated its denial, saying that the reason “should be determined by scientists” – and pointed to an investigation into the World Health Organization, which found that the theory of laboratory leakage was “very likely.”
There is no consensus on the cause of the roaming epidemic.
Laboratory leakage hypothesis It was strongly competed by scientistsIncluding many who say there is no final evidence to support it.
But the controversial theory was gaining land among some of the intelligence agencies – and BND is the latest to entertain the theory. In January, The CIA said The Coronavirus virus was “more likely” to leak from the laboratory rather than come from animals.
According to For death oil and SEDDEUUTSHER ZEITUNGBND met in Berlin in 2020 to consider the origin of the Corona virus in a process called Project Saaremaa.
He evaluated the laboratory theory as “possible”, although it had no final evidence.
BND also found indications that many safety regulations violations occurred in the laboratory.
The evaluation was assigned by the Angela Merkel office, Germany’s advisor at the time, but was not publicly known.
According to the papers, the results were shared with the CIA in the fall of last year.
In January of this year, the CIA said that the “origin of research” for the epidemic was more likely of natural origin “based on the available reports group” – although it warned that “low confidence” in this decision.
The BND Counselor and the outgoing consultant refused to comment.
“We believe that you follow the origin of Covid-19 is a scientific issue that scientists must define with a scientific approach,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, in response.
“The conclusion that the laboratory leakage is unlikely to be reached by the team of participating experts in China after visits on the site for relevant laboratories in Wuhan and in -depth discussions with researchers.
“This reliable scientific conclusion has been widely recognized by the international community and the scientific community.
“China strongly opposes any form of political manipulation on the issue of following the origin of Covid-19.”
In early 2021, an investigation into the World Health Organization witnessed a team of scientists flying to Wuhan on a mission to consider the source of the epidemic.
After spending 12 days there, which included a visit to the laboratory, the team concluded that the lab leak theory was “very likely”.
But many of them have since complained about the results they reached, as a prominent group of scientists criticized the World Health Organization report for not taking a laboratory laboratory theory seriously-it was rejected in a few pages of several hundred pages.
Supporters of the natural origin – which was supported in the World Health Organization report – says that Covid -1 appeared in the bats and then jumped to humans, probably through another animal, or “intermediary host”.
This hypothesis was widely accepted at the beginning of the epidemic, but over time, scientists did not find a virus in bats or another animal that matches the genetic makeup of Covid-19, which led some to doubt the theory.
