England have confirmed their squad for the T20 International against India, which begins on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Lancashire’s Phil Salt will keep wicket and open the batting with Nottinghamshire’s Ben Duckett.
Captain Jos Buttler will bat with three and bowlers Jofra Archer and Mark Wood are named in the side.
The team is as follows:
1. Ben Duckett
2. Feel Salt (WK)
3. Jos Buttler (c)
4. Harry Brock
5. Liam Livingstone
6. Jacob Bethel
7. Jimmy Overton
8. Gus Atkinson
9. Jofra Archer
10. Adel Rashid
11. Mark Wood
Test head coach Brendon McCullum is looking to rejuvenate England’s limited-overs squad after surrendering both World Cup crowns, with captain Buttler now resuming his role as a specialist batsman at number three.
“The only thing is [Buttler] “What he’s not going to do in this series is keep wicket, he’s going to lead the team from the field,” former New Zealand captain McCullum said in a press conference on Monday.
“That’s a really positive thing for us because it gives Jos the opportunity to have the final say with the player and for that relationship to be built in that last second rather than him being 22 yards away.
“We have a really good squad, we have a lot of flexibility within the group. We have a lot of options and it’s about putting everything together that gives us the best chance.”
