Jacques Derbar praised the performance of “upcoming” after he stormed the victory in the BNP Paribas final in Indian Wales.
British number 1 was operated after Holgar Ron in consecutive groups, 6-2 6-2, in just 68 minutes to secure the ATP Masters 1000 title.
Dripper started a quick start, broke Ron in the opening game, then he did so again in his next attempt on his way to taking the first group in half an hour. After that, it was a separation from the first opportunity again in the two group, where he triumphed over victory.
“I didn’t expect it at the beginning of the week,” Dripper said Sky Sports. “A rock start for this year has started with an injury, so that I am in this situation now is beyond the words.
“I am talking to my coaches a lot about these subsequent rounds of championships. I lost matches in the past because I went negative and did not play them to the opponent and played in my business and played to win.
“To play the way I did from the first ball, to search for my front, and serve well, it’s a good moment, coming in my game.”
With a victory that is scheduled to be raised to the seventh place in the seventh place in the world rankings on Monday, adding: “I feel I deserve it with honesty.
“The amount of adversity you passed, the amount of sacrifices, and the amount of time that all people have set around and hard work.
“It is an emotional feeling that you know how much I have gone through and put it here now, to say that I am going to seven in the world, I cannot tell you how much this means for me.”
“I want to be a big player, I want to continue to improve, but I am working hard and see what comes because my dream does what I do.
“To play in the big stages against the best players in the world, to get the opportunities that I have. Winning these big tournaments is an additional reward.”
“On the day you will remember Dryber forever”
Tim Hinman, who was held in the Indian Wales Finals twice, said that Dripper had a “statement” victory that will live long on the anniversary of the British player.
“Very cool”, Hinmann said Sky Sports tennis. “It has been built, not only in this tournament but for the past weeks, months and years.
“It was great to see Jack went out and over again in the championship as he did not have the easiest tie.
“He got rid of Ron at all 6-2 6-2 to win the first master’s title, this day he will remember him forever.”
“Watching the match was unfolding, the traffic was in one direction. The second group would be closer, we knew that there would be a reaction, but Jack was treated with his emotions, the game plan and its strategy well.
“When he had no material problems, he was able to implement his game plan. Overcoming a person like Ron in consecutive groups is a big statement.”
