Inspirational multi-limbed fighter Jake Peacock returns to action on February 20 when he faces Shinji Suzuki at the Losail Gym in Qatar.
Suzuki and Peacock were originally scheduled to face each other in November but the bout was postponed when that act was rescheduled. Their Muay Thai bout will now be featured on the same bill as Jonathan Haggerty vs. Wei Rui ONE’s World Kickboxing Title bout, live on Sky Sports.
Peacock is missing his right hand and forearm. But he is out to prove himself as a world-class Muay Thai practitioner, after winning his first ONE Championship in style In April.
“I told you it was going to be an amazing show and a must-watch first and it certainly was. I was very happy with the performance. I enjoyed myself. I probably enjoyed myself too much,” Peacock said. Sky Sports.
“I loved every moment of it.
“I’m at the top of this sport and I just wanted to enjoy it all.
“I wanted to enjoy every minute of it and I did.”
But he intends to put on a devastating show against Suzuki.
“Mark my words, this next fight, it’s got to be business. I’ve got to go out there, and I’m going to put this guy away in two rounds. I’m going to grab the mic and go. Ask about the top 10 names,” he said.
“He beat some respectable players. His last opponent was Han Zi Hao who was there with everyone else.
“I respect him. I respect his skill. I respect anyone I’m going to face. But I think I’m on a different level than him. I think that will be immediately visible in the fight.”
“I need to go out there and make a statement, silence all the doubters out there and move forward.”
Peacock’s performance, as someone able to fight with only one hand, sends a message in itself.
“I will continue to do what I do, prove people wrong, prove doubters wrong, and inspire others,” he said.
“I receive lots and lots of messages all the time from people around the world who are struggling in their lives, or have a missing limb or some kind of battle they’re going through, encouraging messages that give them strength to move forward and I inspire and motivate them.”
