Manchester City have accepted Milan’s official bid for Kyle Walker.
The agreed deal is a loan with an option to buy the England international permanently in the summer.
The option is worth around £4.2 million (€5 million), according to Heaven in Italy.
Walker will arrive in Milan today around lunchtime and will head to a hotel before undergoing a medical in the afternoon.
He will head to Milan’s headquarters, Casa Milan, to sign the contract.
Walker has helped City win 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League, since joining the club in a £50m deal from Tottenham in 2017.
He was on the verge of joining Bayern Munich after City won the treble in 2023 but signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2026.
Regarding the success that City achieved with Walker, Guardiola said: “We cannot understand the success we have achieved these years without Kyle. It is impossible.”
“He arrived with us eight years ago and we started winning, winning, winning, winning. He was important for the national team and of course with our team.”
“Parting ways makes sense for City Walker.”
Sky Sports Lewis Jones:
Parting ways between Walker and Manchester City makes sense for both parties.
Walker may have asked to leave but there will not be much resistance from the club’s decision-makers based on the clear decline in the England international’s powers this season.
A player who built his career on being almost unbeatable in one-on-one duels is now an easy target for opposition players to exploit.
Even Timo Werner, who has had problems of form and confidence at Spurs, showed Walker a clean pair of heels to set up Spurs’ fourth goal in that brutal defeat for City earlier this season.
led Sky Sports Gary Neville to say: “You don’t see that very often, but we’ve seen it a few times in the last two weeks. Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, he’s dealt with them all, Walker, but he’s struggling.”
Walker’s mistakes aren’t just weird ones either, they bring catalog vibes. As the statistics indicate with and without, his presence has become a hindrance rather than a help for Guardiola.
