Lewis Hamilton Ferrari admitted that “it works to improve” as a technical issue that boycotted its operation on the last day of the Formula 1 test before the season in Bahrain.
The world champion, who is preparing to start his first season with Ferrari joined after 12 years in Mercedes, enjoyed an encouraging start in the test with the second place in the schedule on Thursday.
However, his plans to run a full race in the last session on Friday evening were limited after Ferrari said they had “monitored an anomaly on a remote measurement.”
Speaking on Friday afternoon before his final chance to lead the SF-25 before the Australian Grand Prix, from March 14 to 16, Hamilton said he admired the Lando Norris race with McLaren on Thursday.
He said: “McLaren operated greatly yesterday, and I also think that Max did a decent work today, looking at temperatures.” “It is difficult to know what every person runs, as we all do our different programs, so you have to take everything with salt.
“McLaren won the designers last year. We expect them to be one of the fastest, if not the fastest, as with Red Ball, who controlled many years.
“For us, we are just trying to improve. I haven’t done even the long term yet, so I am about to do this in the afternoon of this day, and I will get a better understanding of how this car is spent in a race period.
“My first race will be with the team. I just played a short 10 rolls, so it will be interesting. We definitely have some work to do to improve.”
Hamilton ranked fifth on Friday, but frustration was not able to complete 47 rolls, compared to his teammate Charles Licerier in the morning session.
“It was generally a few wonderful days and we have made some strong progress as a team,” Hamilton added.
“We had to finish at a little earlier than planned today, and it was difficult to predict the weather throughout the week, but this is the way the test sometimes works and we were able to collect a lot of good information to build on it before the start of the season.
“The entire team did an incredible job and I am very excited to get to the first race in Melbourne. I can’t wait to go with them.”
Vasour: Perhaps a different story in Melbourne
The consensus in the ring three days after running was that the McLaren Champion in the ruling remained the team that must be overcome.
Test times are always shown with caution due to the difference and drivers who run different programs, but there was an additional degree of uncertainty on this occasion due to the sudden weather in the Bahrain International Circuit.
The temperatures were much more cold than it is likely to be in Melbourne in the Australian Grand Prix, and also when F1 returns to Bahrain in the fourth round of the season in April.
“It was difficult to obtain a clear reading about the general situation here in Bahrain, where the conditions were changing day after day and from the morning to the afternoon, so it was more like Las Vegas than we needed usually.
Over the past six months, we worked hard on this car and we have done a good improvement, but we will have to wait until we are all on the right track in Melbourne to understand what we are in.
“If we look at the hierarchical sequence in previous years, what we saw here was not the same as in qualification after a week, under the same circumstances. We will go from 10 to 15 degrees on the path to 45 we will be in Australia, so in Melbourne, it is likely to be a completely different story.
“We want to fight for both the championship because we know that we have two drivers who can do it and the mood in the team is very positive. We will continue to work hard to be ready within two weeks to start the season.”
When is the first F1 race?
For the first time since 2019, the opening match of the season in Melbourne will be held in the Australian Grand Prix from March 14 to 16. The first race from Bahrain turned to Australia because of Ramadan in March.
There are 24 events in the 2025 F1 calendar, the same number as last year, with the end of the season in the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi on December 5-7.
