Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price will battle it out in an all-British world title unification match at the iconic Royal Albert Hall on Friday 7 March.
The duo will headline a historic event at the Women’s World Championship titled unstoppable, As the curtain raiser for the global campaign for International Women’s Day 2025 the next day.
Jonas will enter as WBC and IBF welterweight world champion after defeating Ivana Habazin at the Liverpool Exhibition Center on Saturday.
Her win came after Lauren Price defended her first world title when she knocked out Pixy Matthews to remain the WBA, IBO and Ring Magazine champion.
The night is billed as a “collision tournament” setting the stage for a showdown between the winners of both battles, with the two admirably passing their tests to begin a great duel in 2025.
“It is an honor to headline this wonderful event dedicated to women at such an iconic venue,” Price said. “It shows how far women’s boxing has come.
“Throughout my career, I have broken barriers and achieved what people said I couldn’t achieve, and there is still so much more to come.
“Lauren Price has a lot of hype around her, but I think this fight will be a step too far for her. She’s had great fights, she’s faced world champions and Olympic medalists, but she’s never faced anyone like her before.” “I’m like a professional.”
Both have proven themselves as pioneers in women’s boxing, with Jonas becoming the first ever British female boxer to compete at the London 2012 Olympics and Price a gold medalist at Tokyo 2020.
“I’m excited to headline such a huge occasion,” Price said. “I have a lot of respect for Natasha Jonas and what she has achieved in this sport, but she has the belts I want.
“When I turned pro after becoming an Olympic champion, I wanted to make greatness. This is a big, all-British fight.”
The unification match, Wales v England with five world titles on the line, will help cement my legacy and show I am No.1 in the division.
“I think I’m too small, too fast and too good for Natasha Jonas and I’ll be bringing the belts back home to Wales.”
Jonas has been on a rampage since winning her first world title with a knockout win over Chris Nammos in February 2022, after which she went on to claim three more titles over the following year before claiming the Habazen belt at the weekend.
Meanwhile, Price has wasted no time in making her mark since breaking out of the amateur world, besting Jessica McCaskill just seven fights into her professional career to become world champion in Cardiff last May.
“This is a game-changing event on every level,” said Ben Shalom, CEO and promoter of Boxxer. “At the top of the show are two amazing champions and role models, Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price, who have a chance to win it all in a huge unification fight.
“Fans will be able to see many of the world’s best boxers compete in career-defining bouts at one of the world’s most iconic venues, the Royal Albert Hall.
“This will be a landmark event for women’s sport at the highest level, and we are also proud to work with International Women’s Day 2025 to take positive action.”
Joe Osborne, Head of Women’s Sport at Sky Sports, added: “The Unstoppable event is another amazing milestone for women’s boxing and the sport as a whole. With champions like Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price in attendance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, it promises to be an unforgettable night full of action packed World-class products that we are proud to present to the masses.
“We have been dedicated to investing in and advancing women’s sports for three decades, and it’s always great to be a part of moments like this.”
It stands for another historic night for women’s boxing, following the first ever women’s card to be televised in the UK in October 2022 when Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall headlined at The O2.
Glenda Slingsby, Director of Partnerships at International Women’s Day, said: “We believe the Unstoppable event provides an excellent opportunity to highlight women’s equality in sport, celebrate female athletes, and highlight the gains and challenges of advancing women.
“It represents a great collaboration with aligned goals as we celebrate International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8 following the event.”
