Adam Web, the owner of Saint Johnston, says that cutting the number of clubs in the Scottish Premier League from 12 to 10 will be a “big mistake.”
It was revealed on Tuesday that the SPFL (CWG) competitions set plans on the Supreme Supreme Flight League, and cleared the top six division.
Webb – whose club is currently the Premier League bottom – believes that a model larger than 14 teams should be implemented, as it grows to 16 aspects in the future.
Sky Sports News It understands all options under study by CWG because they look forward to managing the congestion issues facing clubs that play in European competitions.
Talk to Sky Sports“This will be a big mistake [cutting the top flight to 10 teams]. I think the bar for good or bad when it comes to football and football in the UK and world football is the English Premier League.
“They got 20 clubs, and although we are not the same size as England, it is clear, and we will not have 20 clubs in our prime minister – what you want to do is closer.
“It is a more familiar system that is more familiar to succeed on the global stage and on the British stage. We must go in the other direction completely.
“From looking at the quality in the tournament this season, I can tell you that we have two, three or four clubs that will definitely work well in the Premier League, and this is where we should go. We must grow the Premier League.
“We must go to the 14 teams soon, then after five years – as long as the quality of the tournament is sufficient – it is expected to go to the 16 teams league, and if you continue to grow in a very gradual and deliberate way, we can make sure that the quality is present.
“We completely need quality with each team in the prime minister, but this is the direction that we must go because it is better for Scotland, it is better for Scottish football.”
Why rebuild the league on the agenda?
The changes discussed will be crowded and additional stage games competing in the Champions League, the European League and the conference.
On Tuesday, SPFL had already announced that all clubs of the Scottish League for operation in European periodic matches next season will be able to request a one -specific match in the league.
Airline adoption of the top 10 smaller teams will witness a decrease in the number of installations from 38 to 36, in addition to creating a second layer of 10 teams and the third largest division.
Although the option of 14 teams may maintain the possibility of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundy Dippia remains in their current frequency, this may cause problems in the lower half to play more than those in the first six places after the division.
Discussions have not yet been made at timing, and while changes can be made for the next season, the 2026/27 campaign is believed to be more realistic.
While no clubs have yet been consulted over any changes, any suggestion will need to support 11 out of 12 Premier League clubs, 75 percent of the Premier League teams and championships, as well as 75 percent of all 42 SPFL.
