Nikki Henderson visited his horse, Sir Jino, in the hospital this week, fighting against a possible life infection.
The Schlentham Festival has long been forced to miss the intended round in Newbury last week with what was described as a “small wound” on a background, but this injury has been injured since then and has been treated at the Horse Hospital.
Sir Gino, owned by Joe and Mary Donlley, owns five out of five in Britain, and twice won the walls and was short on the 8/11 for Arkle Chase on the first day of the festival in March.
His coach, Henderson, joined Matt Chapman and Badi Brennan to reveal the latest with his horse.
Henderson said: “It is basically working from the inside,” Henderson said. “There is a pocket formed inside the suspended ligament full of many unpleasant bodies and they have the ability to garbage on the anatomy.
“We thought there could be a foreign object in the ligament, but they could not find it. This is a completely rare case that can only be found in the authentic.
“Yesterday, they pulled a sample, which was formed in the ligament to prove what antibiotics will kill while in this antibiotic now. We hope this will be sealed.
“I talked to Henry, who is responsible for the entire procedure in Donington Group and said he is walking [on Wednesday] Morning, his waste is good while eating fine. They continue to monitor it, sweep it and test it.
“For all intentions and purposes, it is still in intensive and critical care.
“He is comfortable but he may not realize what is happening. It is not healthy, because he is painful. But he is able to walk and I think they want to walk to keep it.
“It has not ended in a long way and there will be for some big time.
“I think possessing a suitable and healthy horse may help to be able to fight these things, but as long as it is comfortable, it is up to the veterinarian to try to eliminate them before causing a lot of damage.”
Jango Baie aims to arkle
With Sir Jino from working, Henderson was appointed to Reroute Jango Baie to Arkle.
A winner two and a half miles in each of its chasing starts this season, including Scillly Isles this month in Sandown, can return to two miles in Cheltenham to face Willie Mullins’ MajBorough.
Henderson said: “We have thought about this at the weekend. We have talked to the owner with the owner and our plan will currently be the Gangu Bay to enter Arkel.
“It is not slow but fast enough for two people [miles]? “
