Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Ruhl is one of the names under consideration for Southampton’s vacant position.
There has been no formal approach towards the Championship club in the current situation.
There are also two other foreign coaches of interest to Southampton, and the Premier League club will not be required to pay compensation to either of them.
Ruhl has fond memories of his time working at St Mary’s as assistant to Ralph Hasenhuttl. They arrived in December 2018 with Southampton 18th in the league and maintained their lead.
