Tell Stewart Ketollel Sky Sports News Leaving his role as Motherweell’s director was one of the most difficult decisions in his career.
Scottish football was surprised when KettleWell Motherweell left last month, and he blamed the personal abuse he was receiving and the influence he had on his family.
KettleWell, who has been replaced since then, Michael Wemen, the former president of Austria Vienna, came out with Motherweell in fifth place in the Scottish Prime Minister – just one month away from what could be on two years in Fir Park Hotseat.
And he told Sky Sports News.
“I didn’t take it lightly. I didn’t do it for the sake of influencing. I did so because I felt that it was the right decision at that moment for myself and my family.
“There were a number of different things [that contributed towards my decision]. Of course, the vast majority of this revolves around Gameday, the day of the match [and] Reaching the point where my wife must take children away from the game because you cannot sit there anymore.
“I think one of the things I need to clarify is that she was offended by my family. This is not true. Of course, it is directly directed to myself. I said that before, it doesn’t matter whether the case shouted to your wife or children.
“There were games that family members had to move and leave even when we were winning football matches – I would like to refer to Aberdeen in January. There were games where my daughter came independently with her boyfriend and they should leave. It cannot be heard anymore.
“As I say, with my wife and children, I reached the point where you almost have to tell them not to come to the game anymore.”
KettleWell: The effect of misuse of social media was clear
KettleWell continued: “I think one of the things that might come to its fruits is that I am a man who does not deal with social media. I do not go on social media. I have no accounts. Maybe, he will never do it. I understand that he exists.
“But I think it is safe to say that if you are one young man and we did not invest in it as a family and bring it, I can bear it. I can handle it. I can take it. He had a lot of abuse along the way, as most people did in football.
“But I think myself, when you feel that even if it is a minority, even for a period of time, when you feel that it begins to cross the line, there is one of the few things that can happen. It can grow. It can become worse than it is possible.
“It can affect people more. Are you [then] A reaction as an individual? Because I am a person involved in a lot of confrontation in my time as a player, coach and manager, this is my personality, and this is a kind of what I have always been.
“You are trying to curb what you can as much as possible, or you feel that you should make a decision. This is where you have finally reached.”
Football abuse “gets more worse”
KettleWell believes that football and society have become more toxic in terms of abuse.
“I think it is a problem,” he said. “My decision was never a pioneer, and that people give me embracing, and for people to feel sorry for me or my family.
“I can assure you that this was never my intention. It was never that I was going with this decision. I believe in talking to a lot of people inside football [and I have had] Many incredible contacts from the highest level managers, the people I really respect.
“I think there is a general consensus, and I think one or two have talked about it, and that it is getting worse at all.”
“You only continue to kick the box on the road.”
KettleWell with a minority of supporters contributed to his departure instead of the MotherWell fans in general, and he insisted that he had great memories of the support he received from people through the football club.
“It was not a decision that was classified against the entire support of Olawil, if you wanted, and it is never a full support. It is not,” he said.
“Sometimes, this may be the real small minority as noise can be higher, and the purpose of what they say can have a greater effect, mainly.
“I got a lot of real real support in Motherwell, and a lot of good support. Then, I got real good support, a flow from many individuals, many groups.
“There was something that I sent to me by Manuel, who I respect a lot, 25 years old and sent me a remarkable message and image of it. I can do it, I really do.
“Once again, this was never my point of view, to try to feel love or make people go out and tell how to respect you or the job you do. But I hope and I expect people to appreciate sometimes.
“You don’t only continue to kick the box on the road until we see whether things are going much worse and know if it has a greater impact on people who have to return home to every day.”
“You do not want to be overwhelmed.”
KettleWell admitted that it is disappointing to reduce his administrative ruling in Motherwell, but he still believes he made the right call.
“I have reached a stage and a point where you feel that you do not want to outperform your welcome,” he said.
“Now, this may not be the feeling of everyone, but categorically – I look at the task that was placed on hand through two different executives, two different presidents, and two different executive councils – and I feel that I feel that we met and overcome us To a large extent, each of those goals that were set before us.
“I assume that for justice, according to the arrangement of fairness, this is something sitting in my head. I do not want to be someone who feels like clinging to the job so that I can tell people that I am a football manager and work with the higher level in this country.
“I believe in the work I do. I believe in the work that my employees and players have done throughout that time.
“As I said, it is almost the matter that you may have to hand him over to another person. There may be an issue whether this is the football management cycle.
“I think I am perhaps the third longer [serving] Director of the upper trip. I wanted to be longer. I always feel a long -term thinker, but there are a number of factors there.
“Sitting here is three weeks below the line, I still feel that I made the right decision. It is very rare that we see a manager walking away from a job, choosing to leave, talking about the abuse received and influencing the family.”
