Northern Ireland’s Tom McKibben is set to snub the chance to play on the PGA Tour this season and make a surprise switch to join Jon Rahm’s LIV Golf League team.
McKibbin, who was previously dubbed “the next Rory McIlroy” after hailing from the same Hollywood golf club where he was the four-time major champion, has earned dual membership on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour for the 2025 season.
The 22-year-old scored his first DP World Tour title – in his rookie season – at the Porsche European Open in June 2023 and enjoyed a strong finish to last season, earning the last of 10 available PGA Tour cards via the Race to Dubai classification.
McKibbin was congratulated by McIlroy after the season ended at the DP World Tour Championship and said it was “exciting” to have the privileges of playing on the PGA Tour, although several reports link him to a move to Rahm’s Legion XIII team.
Sky Sports The Spanish outlet has reached out to McKibbin’s management for comment Ten golf He is reportedly expected to replace Kieran Vincent who landed on a Ram roster that already includes Ryder Cup star Terrell Hatton and American star Caleb Surratt.
McKibben plays alongside Hatton this week in the DP World Team Cup Tour, Live on Sky Sports starting Fridaywhere both represent Great Britain and Ireland against continental Europe in a Ryder Cup-style competition.
When asked about potentially joining LIV Golf, McKibben refused to downplay the rumors and told him Golf Digest: “I will not be making any comments this week out of respect for Justin [Rose] And Luke [Donald] And this tournament.
“It’s a team tournament, so I’m trying to give my best for the team and see how many points I can get.”
Switching to the LIV Golf League will currently suspend McKibbin from the PGA Tour, though he will initially retain his DP World Tour membership and remain eligible to try to qualify for the European Ryder Cup team later this fall.
