
Paige Buickers was chosen from Uconn for the first time in general by Dallas Wings in the WNBA draft
Paij Bueckers has become the latest UNCONN player to be chosen for the first time in the draft WNBA where Dallas Wings announced the 23 -year -old goalkeeper in New York City.

Bueckers is the sixth Uconn player who is first chosen in the WNBA draft. It joins a legendary list of Suu Bird (2002), Diana Turasi (2004), Tina Charles (2010), Maya Moore (2011) and Brin Stewart (2016).
The seeds were crowned from its university career by leading Uconn to the national title of 2025. It was three times from all Americans, the national player this year in 2021 and one of the most popular players in women’s basketball.
PCKERS is a three -point shooter that achieved 42.3 percent (236 out of 558) of its four attempts with the powerful structures. She had a professional average of 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.6 passes and 2.1 decisive passes.
“Everyone has invested a lot from me and part of me wanted to return the favor to them and show that I could be better and how all their hard work helped me reach this stage,” said Bouckerz. “I didn’t do it on my own, it took a village.”
Seattle Storm had the second option and chose 6 feet and 6 inch Dominic Malonga from France.
The 20 -year -old helped France win the 2024 Olympic Silver Medal in Paris and play professionally in France.
“I will work hard to suit this league,” said Malonga, who was born in Cameroon. “I know it will be difficult, and I know it will be difficult but I am ready to work.”
The Washington Washingics had three of the following four options and chose the Notre -Sonia Citron goalkeeper, Southern California striker Kiki Ervin, and Kentucky Gorgia Amoor goalkeeper.
